People's Jewelry

  • Why is downsizing jewelry important?
Initial piercing jewelry is slightly longer to accommodate swelling and drainage. Failing to downsize once the swelling goes down can lead to irritation, migration, snagging, and prolonged healing. We recommend downsizing after: 4-6 weeks for most cartilage, lobe, tongue and lip piercings. Visit us for a jewelry check-up to ensure a proper fit!
  • How often should I clean my piercing?
Clean twice daily with saline solution. Over-cleaning can irritate the skin, so be gentle!
  • What aftercare do you recommend for new piercings?
We suggest: Cleaning with sterile saline solution (no alcohol, peroxide, or ointments!) Avoiding unnecessary touching, twisting, or sleeping on it Keeping your piercing dry and free from pressure We provide full aftercare instructions at your appointment.
  • I’m having issues with my piercing. What should I do?
If you experience irritation, bumps, or discomfort, don’t remove the jewelry! Contact us for an in-person check-up so we can assess the situation and provide proper care advice.
  • What should I do if my piercing gets crusty?
Crusting is normal! It’s just dried lymph Aka Drainage (not pus). Do not pick at it—gently clean with saline and let it rinse away naturally.
  • Can I change my jewelry before my piercing is healed?
No, we recommend waiting until your piercing is fully healed before changing jewelry. Changing too soon can lead to irritation, infection, or even closure of the piercing. If you need a jewelry change, visit us for a professional change to avoid complications.
  • My piercing is red and swollen—should I be worried?
Mild swelling, redness, and tenderness are normal in the first few weeks. To reduce swelling: Use a clean cold compress (avoid ice directly on the skin) Sleep with your head elevated Avoid touching or bumping the piercing If the redness worsens, you notice green/yellow discharge, or develop pain, contact us for a check-up.
  • Can I sleep on my piercing?
Try to avoid sleeping on your new piercing, especially cartilage piercings! Pressure can cause irritation, bumps, and migration. Use a travel pillow to keep pressure off if needed.
  • Can I go swimming with a new piercing?
Avoid swimming in pools, hot tubs, lakes, or the ocean for at least 4-6 weeks. Bacteria in water can cause infections.
  • Can I exercise after getting pierced?
Yes, but avoid excessive sweating around the piercing. After working out: Rinse the area with sterile saline Avoid touching the piercing with sweaty hands Wear clean, breathable clothing for body piercings
  • What should I do if a bump forms on my piercing?
Piercing bumps can form from: Sleeping on it Jewelry that’s too long or too short Irritation from touching or snagging To help reduce bumps: Downsize your jewelry if needed Avoid touching or rotating the piercing Use saline soaks and warm compresses Visit us for a check-up to determine the best solution!
  • What happens if my piercing starts rejecting?
If your jewelry starts to move closer to the surface, or if you see more of the post than before, this may be rejection. Rejection is more common in surface piercings like eyebrows, navel, and some ear piercings. If you notice this, visit us immediately for an evaluation.
  • When can I stop cleaning my piercing?
Continue cleaning your piercing with saline for at least 6 months or until it is fully healed. Even after healing, keep good hygiene habits to prevent irritation.
  • What should I do if I need to remove my piercing for work/sports?
If possible, use a glass retainer instead of removing the jewelry. Removing a new piercing for even a few hours can cause it to close up. If you must remove it, contact us for advice on keeping it open safely.
  • How long does it take for a piercing to heal?
Healing times vary, but here are general guidelines: Earlobes: 3-6 months Cartilage (helix, conch, rook, etc.): 6-12 months Nostril & septum: 6-9 months Lip & oral piercings: 3-6 months Navel: 6-12 months Nipple: 6-12 months
  • Do I need an appointment, or do you take walk-ins?
Appointments are highly recommended to secure your spot, but we do accept walk-ins when time allows. You can book an appointment through our website.
  • What types of jewelry do you use for initial piercings?
We use only high-quality, implant-grade titanium and solid gold jewelry from trusted brands to ensure a safe and smooth healing process.
  • Do you pierce minors?
Yes! However, age requirements vary based on the piercing type. Minors must have a parent or legal guardian present with valid ID and Birth Certificate.
  • Can I bring my own jewelry for my piercing?
No, for safety reasons, we only pierce with high-quality jewelry purchased from our studio. This ensures correct sizing, material safety, and proper sterilization.
  • What should I do before my piercing appointment?
To have the best piercing experience: Eat a light meal before your appointment to prevent dizziness. Stay hydrated to promote circulation and healing. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and blood thinners (like aspirin) before your appointment. Bring a valid ID (and guardian documents if needed for minors). Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the piercing area.
  • Do you use piercing guns or pressurized devices?
No! We only use single-use, hollow needles for a safer, more precise piercing experience. Piercing guns and pressurized devices can cause excessive trauma to the tissue, increasing the risk of scarring, improper healing, and infection. They cannot be properly sterilized, which raises hygiene concerns. Needles create a cleaner, more controlled piercing, minimizing damage and promoting better healing. Your safety is our priority, and we always follow the highest industry standards for body piercing!
  • Can I get pierced if I’m pregnant or nursing?
For your safety, we do not pierce anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding. Your body is already going through changes, and healing can be unpredictable during this time.
  • Do you offer piercing removals?
Yes! If you need help removing a piercing safely, we can assist with jewelry removal and discuss healing or re-piercing options.
  • Where are you located?
We are inside Sun Kisst Salon & Spa at: 14647 Porter Rockwell Blvd, Suite D, Bluffdale, UT 84065
  • What happens if I’m late to my appointment?
If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, we may need to reschedule your appointment to stay on time for other clients.
  • Do you offer returns or exchanges on jewelry?
For hygiene and safety reasons, all jewelry sales are final. If you receive a defective or incorrect item, please contact us within 48 hours for assistance.
  • Bringing Guests
We allow one support person per client inside the piercing area. For minor piercings, only one parent or guardian is allowed in the room. Please do not bring small children unless they are the one being pierced.

We accept cash, credit/debit cards, and digital payments(Venmo).
  • Can you refuse service?
Yes, we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who is disruptive, inappropriate, or refuses to follow our studio guidelines. Our priority is a safe and professional environment for everyone.
